Valentine’s/Galentines Fun: Helen: My week at Bou-chique 💕
Reflecting on the week leading into Valentine’s weekend, I can’t help but smile at how much is happening in the shop, and how much more is still to come. It’s always a busy time of year at Bou-chique, as we start to move away from the winter months and bring in the fresh, summery clothing and accessories for the season ahead. Every day I find myself adding new pieces, carefully checking what’s going to be right for you, and working out exactly what’s needed to make this season extra special. And, of course, I listen closely to what you’ve been telling me about what you would love to see. It’s always a combination of us guiding you with what’s new and exciting, and you letting me know what you actually want to wear.
We also had a Facebook Live video this week, which was such a fun catch-up with Jill! I hadn’t seen her since last week, and it was great to chat, laugh, and share some of our exciting new stock. As usual, Jill absolutely had to have a few new things (she’s got great taste, if I do say so myself!), and of course, she was drawn to the new clothes and scarves that—no surprise here—had hearts on them! 💖
We couldn’t resist bringing in some heart motif items—after all, Valentine’s Day is just around the corner on 14th February! 💖
Now, speaking of Valentine’s Day, what does my Valentine’s look like this year? Well, it’s a bit different, but it’s still just as lovely. My monthly curry subscription arrives tomorrow (thanks to my sister who gifted it to us at Christmas—best present ever, by the way!) and Peter (my hubby) and the boys will be preparing a mouthwatering feast for me on Valentine’s Day itself. Last month’s curry was delicious, so I’m pretty sure I’m in for a treat! After dinner, it’ll be feet up for me after a long week in the shop, with some time to relax and hopefully watch a bit of TV—maybe with a nice gin in hand, of course! 🍸
Weekends in our household usually revolve around football—either the boys playing in their teams or watching their beloved SAFC. I love supporting them, but I also appreciate the time I get for myself to get in some exercise. I’ve been joining my friends at Escape Fitness (where you’re definitely not escaping from a good workout! 😂) for some good exercise sessions, or I’ll go for a nice long walk to clear my head. This year, I’ve signed up with friends to do the Macmillan Mighty Hike again, so all that walking and training will hopefully pay off in the end! 🏃♀️
However, this Valentine’s weekend is a bit of a twist—it’s football-free! This Saturday, I’m out with my Uni sweetheart (Peter, of course!) and a few friends to relive our Uni days at a daytime nightclub. Now, I know what you’re thinking—daytime nightclub? But trust me, it’s going to be a blast! I’ll be sure to get my steps in while enjoying the vibe, and I’m excited to rock a chic look in a pair of the new joggers from the shop. I’m going for the perfect combination of Uni style meets chic—I’ll post a picture and let you know what a daytime disco is like. (Who knows? It might just become my new favorite thing!) 💃
As for Sunday… well, I imagine it’ll consist of a little bit of a hangover (let’s be real!) and probably some much-needed housework. Not exactly glamorous, but it’s all part of the weekend reset before diving back into another busy week at Bou-chique. There’s always something new to do and lots of fresh ideas to bring into the shop, so it’s a full-time job, but one I absolutely love.
So, no matter what you’re doing this Valentine’s weekend—whether you’re celebrating with a loved one, your friends, or just enjoying some well-deserved “me time”—I hope it’s a good one. If you don’t usually join in with the traditional Valentine’s celebration, just remember to give yourself a little extra love and kindness this weekend. After all, you deserve it too! ❤️
Speak soon,
Helen xx
